Favorite Looks from Kenzo S/S 2015

Humberto Leon and Carol Lim showed their S/S 2015 collection earlier this morning in Paris. There was a huge range of attitudes shown – from relaxed tonal dressing to structured dressing more typical of suiting.

I’ve found the Kenzo attitude in the past to be very focused on environment and fabric manipulation and I felt that this collection showed those same themes.

Leon and Lim’s silhouettes were mostly relaxed, save for a few more architectural, suiting looks. There were also A-line hems and tunics over wide leg pants and culottes. Accessories and other embellishment were minimal, though hardware like zipper pulls and buttons were exaggerated on many of the looks.

I’m particularly in love with look 20. I love the polish that the sateen finish  brings to a relaxed, beach-like outfit. The peek of the double-facing that you get from the wide sleeves and lapel fold are dreamy. I’ve been searching for a perfect car coat to add to my wardrobe and will probably take this photo to Harput’s, where I occassionally get items custom made.

Favorite Looks from Celine S/S 2015

Phoebe Philo showed her relaxed S/S 15 collection earlier this morning at Paris Fashion Week. I’m extremely attracted to minimalism in fashion and find Philo to offer a very unique voice – she completely lacks any severity that is typically associated with the style.

In this collection, I found her sculptural precision to be intact even when bringing in flowy touches that would be described as boho if presented by any other designer. Not represented below are the florals she presented that have everyone buzzing. The florals that she showed were certainly de rigueur, with designers moving towards the larger, more heavily outlined and graphical floral print of the 70’s and away from the ditzy print of the 90’s.

My sweetie has been giving me the stink-eye for wearing tunic dresses over my wide-leg pants over the past few weeks, so he won’t be happy with this show. But it certainly gives me fresh ideas for lengths to play with and how to integrate longer, looser tops with culottes.
